To secure your Folkus Room booking simply contact Bill Arnett at any of the contact points listed below.
performance categories
We provide five categories of performance opportunity.
1. The Whole Show three hours of your own construction between 8.00pm and 11.00pm.... you'd better be good!.
2. The Main Act.... a two hour slot from 9.00pm to 11.00pm arranged in whatever config you want for your particular show.
3. The Double Bill.... two 90 minute slots from 7.30pm arranged in whatever config you want for your particular show.
4. The Support Act.... one single 45 minute slot from 8.00pm (not on "double bill" or "whole show" nights)
5. The Floor Spot or "Walk Up" opportunity.... three songs or fifteen minutes allocated in time slots between 6.00pm and 8.00pm counting back from start time of the advertised program.
our usual format
sound checks
We need you to be at the venue between 5.00pm and 5.30pm on the evening of your performance for sound checks. Please discuss any alteration to this schedule with Kevin Austin well before that time to make alternative arrangements if you are unable to keep that appointment.
bump in/out
All bump in/out can happen at street level at the rear of the premises with our doors no more than fifteen metres from the stage..... SEE MAP
what you need to tell us
We LOVE stage/floor plans.... please provide one by email well before the date of your performance.
Please be able to accurately tell us all your needs. If you need support equipment (grand pianos, amps etc) that you are unable to transport (if on tour) we will do all we can to provide same BUT you need to tell us well before your arrival in town. We don't like little surprises.
If you or any of your troupe have particular food allergies/preferences we will ensure those needs are met but once again you need to tell us well beforehand.
the deal
This basic formula is designed around an admission price of $15 per head. Top limits rise in a sliding scale as admission prices rise. Talk to Bill for full details.
The usual deal is loosely described as a door deal with the main act artist getting 85% of the door after my expenses (which are pretty minimal) up to a maximum of $2,000. In the case of a double bill, the 85% amount is shared equally between the two acts unless they have come to some alternative mutual agreement. The Folkus Room will not adjudicate in any dispute in relation to this aspect.
Floor Spots gain free admission to the remainder of the evening.

accommodation
PLEASE NOTE: This facility is temporarily not available to us. The Serb community is housing a refugee in the flat for an indeterminate period of time.
our performance spaces
We have two!
Our main room can hold up to 350 patrons seated and our second choice space can hold up to 150 all in comfort around circular tables. Both have dance floors.
We have many options for stage plans from up to twelve metres wide and up to four metres deep to small intimate configurations more suited to solo artists. Our totally portable stage sections can be applied to either performance space.
