Settlers' Night Session & Dance

is your chance to get your old thing out and get along and join in with a music session in traditional music style of the Australian Settlers.

The monthly session & dance night happens on the first Friday of the month at the very welcoming

WHITE EAGLE CLUB, 38 David Street, TURNER, ACT ....  (...but not in January)

Our event provides opportunity to be exposed to this very important form of traditional Oz music. This stuff is your heritage and reflects the Australian character. Sometimes associated with "bush music" or "colonial style", it's lively, light hearted and lilty; often used to accompany some pretty energetic set dancing and that's exactly what the session turns into after about and hour or so when the dancers get into gear.

A more casual approach means that there is no sound amplification or "stage" but the array of instruments and enthusiasm of the sessioneers is enough to raise the roof and provide quality entertainment at many levels........ A true community experience!

Session sets are based on a play list of collected Australian dance music, copies of which are available at the club or from

Ray Mulligan

Any other tunes or songs are of course welcome.

Basically what happens is that the evening operates as a Family Dance night. Sets of Australian Dance Music are put together and played by Mulligan's Flat with the help of whomsoever wants to turn up for the evening.

6pm the club opens (the FABULOUS White Eagle Polish Foods Bistro is open as well).  Informalities begin with a session which is your chance to join in and to learn and play the sets. Those sets will then form the basis for a night of dance.

8pm 'til 10.15 ‘ish: Dance your night away.........

Admission costs: Session Musicians Free; MFS & BT members $5; Non-members $7; Children Free.
